A little about my school and why I’m going there:
The University of Miami is in Coral Gables, Florida- just outside the city of Miami. It is beautiful. It’s ranked 38th best University in the United States, and 101st in the world. So, it’s not THE best school to go to for some things- But its Rosenstiel School of Atmospheric and Marine Science (RSAMS) is consistently ranked in the top five best marine science schools in the world. For undergrads, their four year program earns you a Double Major in marine science and biology (or marine science and any other base science like chem, physics, geology, etc) they offer hundreds of marine classes (super excited.)
RSMAS is located a few miles from main campus- it is gorgeous. this is where most of the graduate students do work, although undergrads do get to take a few courses over there. It is a whole separate facility which also houses their privately owned research vessels.

The only issue for me was the price tag, it is a great school, but it runs around $54,000USD/year. However, they are really good about giving out scholarships. I got $20k/year in merit aid alone. Since they are a private school they offer a lot of opportunities like study abroad programs in the Galapagos and Australia. In addition, it is an average of like 23-24°C (75F) all school year, and is right by Miami Beach…
It’s a fun school, with fun people, and has the best program for me- so there you go!
